Florida’s housing market is currently experiencing what I’d call a significant mismatch: while listings are plentiful and price reductions are common, the available properties often don’t line up with buyers’ needs when it comes to size, cost, and location. I’ve seen firsthand how this creates challenges for both sides—aging homeowners are finding it difficult to sell, while younger buyers are holding off on homeownership as costs climb. This disconnect is driving persistent imbalances in the market. With over 40 years in residential brokerage and property management, I’ve watched these cycles unfold before, but the current environment is especially pronounced. Navigating these complexities requires attention to both evolving buyer preferences and the realities facing today’s sellers.
